ONE 168 Adds Grappling Title Bout, Muay Thai Clash to Sept. 6 Card in Denver

Published:

The lineup for ONE
Championship’s return to the United States continues to grow,
as the Singapore-based promotion has announced the addition of two
new matchups to the Sept. 6 card.

In what is being touted as “one of the biggest submission grappling
matches in history” by ONE, flyweight (135-pound) grappling
champion Mikey
Musumeci will challenge reigning lightweight (170-pound) champ
Kade
Ruotolo in a superfight. Additionally, veteran muay thai
standouts Liam
Harrison and Seksan
Or Kwanmuang will square off in a 140-pound catchweight
pairing.

A five-time IBJJF world champion, Musumeci has been victorious in
six straight contests since joining ONE in April 2022. While “Darth
Rigatoni” will be moving up three weight classes in his quest to
become a two-division champion, he has experience against larger
foes, submitting former ONE lightweight (170-pound) Shinya Aoki
in his last outing.

The 21-year-old Ruotolo is also 6-0 in ONE competition. The
youngest ever ADCC champion is coming off a submission victory over
Franciso Lo in his most recent appearance at ONE Fight Night 21.
Before he faces Musumeci, Ruotolo is slated to make his MMA debut
against Blake
Cooper on June 7.

Harrison, a three-time muay thai world champion from England, has
earned a pair of knockout victories under the ONE banner —
including a come-from-behind triumph over Muangthai
PK Saenchai.

A former WBC muay thai champion, Kwanmuang won six straight
contests on ONE’s Friday Fights before earning a contract on the
promotion’s global roster. He’s won two of three since then to
compile an 8-1 overall record in the past 15 months.

ONE Championship 168 takes place at Ball Arena in Denver and is
headlined by a 125-pound title clash between Jingnan
Xiong and Stamp
Fairtex.
