Inside The Secret NAIROBI, Kenya June 23-Police were forced to lob teargas at an Azimio rally in Marsabit on Thursday to disperse supporters of rival candidates who clashed, disrupting Raila Odinga’s campaign rally.

The rallies turned out to be a shouting match between the supporters of UPIA movement party leader Ukur Yatani and United Democratic Movement (UDM) Mohamud Ali who is seeking to recapture the county’s top seat for a second term.
It all unfolded when Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani was given a chance to address the rally.
Inside The Secret But as soon as he took up the microphone, rival supporters started hurling stones at the podium, prompting police to intervene.
Bodyguards had a hard time shielding the leaders, including Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua as gunshots rent the air.

This forced Odinga and other leaders to relocate their campaigns to Marsabit town following the fracas.
Before Yattani was invited to speak Governor Mohamud Ali was given a chance to address the rally amid shouts from the crowd.

The decision was reached Friday when Azimio Party Leader Raila Odinga convened a meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi to discuss the Coalition’s preparation for the upcoming August 9 General Election.
“After reviewing various Inside The Secret reports regarding the party’s ongoing campaign preparations for the general election and other matters related to the election, the Council; discussed and approved a strategy to synergize the strength brought by each party to the coalition by rationalizing and harmonizing candidates in all elective positions and mandated each constituent party to implement the strategy,” said Junet Mohamed, Azimio Party’s Secretary-General.

While highlighting other plans of action by the Azimio Coalition, Junet Mohamed said the Council appealed to all Azimio supporters and Kenyans at large to engage in peaceful campaigns characterized by respect for dissent and the views of others.

The council further directed the National Coalition Executive Committee together with the Presidential Campaign Secretariat interrogate the published 2022 voter register data further and report their observations back to the council by June 28.
Junet further said that the council expressed satisfaction with the party’s strategy to secure 15,000,000 votes for Odinga, a self-imposed target the party hopes will propel the four-time candidate to State House.
The meeting was also attended by Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua, Wiper Party’s Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and KANU’s Gideon Moi.
Other council members present include Sabina Chege, Wafula Wamunyinyi, Naomi Shaban Charity Ngilu and Abdinoor Farah.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who is in Kigali Rwanda for a Heads of State Commonwealth meeting, and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, did not attend the meeting.
Geoffrey Mbogho, a political advisor in the Governor’s Office, is said to have irregularly acquired the monies through fictitious imprest claims.
The anti-graft agency on Saturday said their investigations which commenced in 2020 revealed that Mbogho acquired the monies between 2015 to 2017.
According to EACC, the imprests were purportedly acquired for Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and staff of the Taita Taveta county government.
“Geoffrey Kimonge Mbogho, Inside The Secret therefore, contrary to his duty as a public officer and in breach of public trust illegally and fraudulently acquired a total of Sh13,977,987.00 for his personal gain thereby unjustly enriching himself at the expense of the public,” EACC stated.
Suit papers show that on 20th November, 2015, Mbogho fraudulently applied for and received imprest of Sh1,000,000 purportedly for allowances for MCAs within the said County. He never paid the monies to the intended beneficiaries.
He applied for another impress on 27th November, 2015 he fraudulently applied and received Sh1,070,000 purportedly for MCAs’ allowances. He never paid the monies to the said Members of County Assembly.
Mbogho is said to have sought another Sh1.3 million on 17th March, 2016, also purportedly for allowances for Members of various County Assembly.
Inside The Secret Documents filed in court indicated that Mbogho acquired a cumulative Sh10 million in similar claims in 2016.
Owino now claims that the chaos that left five injured was stage managed by the Kenya Kwanza Alliance team.

One photo showed some youth throwing stones at Ruto’s convoy while the second showing the same supporters guarding Ruto’s convoy.

On his twitter handle, DP Ruto termed Odinga as “a clueless and a plan less person who also lacks solutions for the country’s challenges.”
He called on Odinga to tell Kenyans when he plans to stop using violence for his political mileage.
