What Ryan Garcia Said To Cause Devin Haney To Shove Him

Published:

Ryan Garcia got Devin Haney boiling hot today during their face-off atop the Empire State Building in New York when he repeatedly questioned him about where his “momma” was.

It’s unclear where Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) was going with pushing that button with WBC light welterweight champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), but it got him mad enough for him to shove him hard.

It also angered Papa Haney, Bill, who talked about wanting Devin to “Kill” him on Saturday night when they battle at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

During the face-off, both fighters talked over each other, not really listening but just talking trash in a rapid-fire way.

Haney was saying, “I’m going to drown you,” which some believe is a line that he borrowed from Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, a fighter that he is believed to be coping outside of the ring.

Inside the ring, it’s thought that Haney is imitating Shakur Stevenson’s fighting style, which has spectacularly backfired on him in terms of his popularity and dull fights.

“Where’s your momma? Ryan Garcia repeatedly said to Devin Haney today that caused him to shove him during their face-off atop of the Empire State Building in New York City.

If Ryan was trying to push Haney’s buttons, he succeeded, but man, why say this? Bringing up family members is never a good idea.

“When we get through with Ryan, the world is going to know about it if they’re not watching. So, we’re not worried about it,” said Bill Haney to Fighthype, defending the low ticket sales for his son, Devin’s fight with Ryan Garcia this Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

“It’s going to be a legal homicide,” said Bill. “Devin is going to beat it up on April 20th.

“The amount of tickets and the amount of sales is reflective on who we fights, and not on who we are.

“If Bob Arum is the promoter that he’s accounted to be, then he’ll make that fight happen just like Oscar De La Hoya,” said Bill about Top Rank promoter Bob Arum reportedly being interested in a fight between Haney and Teofimo Lopez.

“Oscar De La Hoya didn’t let Ryan Garcia’s antics keep him from not showing up on April 20th. When I talk about Devin, there are a lot of things that make him the Face of Boxing. There’s a lot of challenges that he’s faced.
