A TOURIST has died after plunging 40ft off a balcony of his hotel in Majorca.

The German man, 24, was killed in the early hours of Tuesday – marking the first fatality of the summer season on the Brit holiday hotspot island.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at the Timor hotel in Playa de Palma but he was found lying motionless.

He was unable to be resuscitated and pronounced dead at the scene, according to local reports.

According to German outlet Bild, the tourist returned from partying to discover he had locked himself out at around 3am.

The young man was attempting to scale the building to reach his room when he fell to his death, the outlet said.

The victim had allegedly arrived on the island just hours earlier to spend a few days at the beach resort close to the infamous party town of Magaluf.

A full investigation is now underway.

Last month, a Brit tourist was left fighting for his life after he fell from the third-floor of an apartment block in Magaluf.

The man, aged 25, was rushed to hospital with “very serious” injuries to his face and head.

It comes as the UK government repeated its warning against dangerous behaviour close to balconies.

A recent statement read: “There have been a number of serious accidents, some fatal, involving British nationals falling from height, including from balconies.

“Do not take unnecessary risks around balconies or other high places, particularly if you’re under the influence of drink or drugs.

“If you are staying in a room with a balcony, follow the safety advice at the hotel or apartment, and watch out for friends who may be at risk.

“In some regions you may be fined or evicted from your hotel if you are found to be behaving irresponsibly around balconies.”

In April, another Brit tourist, 22, died after falling from a balcony of his fifth-floor hotel room in Turkey.

And in March, an inquest heard how a UK holidaymaker plunged to his death from a hotel balcony just hours after proposing to his girlfriend.

Stephen Willits, 45, suffered traumatic injuries following the horrific fall in Corfu in 2020 – but it is still not known how the tragedy happened.

The inquest heard Alton Towers worker had “mild depression” but no history of suicidal thoughts or acute mental health illness.

A toxicology report showed he was “heavily intoxicated” at the time of the fall.
