Ryan Garcia’s dad, Henry, suspects Devin Haney may have broken his jaw in his loss to Kingry last Saturday night in Brooklyn.

Henry says that Devin (31-1, 15 KOs) is still in New York. He thinks he’s in one of the state’s hospitals, having his jaw injury tended to. Haney’s jaw was badly swollen on the left side, and blood was coming from his mouth.
Henry feels Bill Haney should have stopped the fight in the seventh round to protect his son, Devin, who was dropped and pummeled by Ryan in the round. It got worse for Haney after the seventh, as he was taking a beating from Ryan from rounds eight through twelve.
Henry Garcia: “Haney Era is Gone”
“That Haney era is gone. It’s going to take a while for him to recover,” said Henry Garcia to MillCity Boxing about Devin Haney needing a break after his beat down against Ryan Garcia last Saturday night.
It could take a while before Haney returns to action, and it’s going to be hard for him to come back from this loss. His confidence will be gone, and the top fighters at 140 are going to use Ryan’s win as a blueprint to follow.
They’re going to do exactly what Ryan did by sitting down on their shots, targeting Haney’s head, and not letting him escape when he retreats. This fight could have the same effect on Haney’s career as Adrien Broner’s loss to Marcos Maidana in 2013. Broner was never the same after that loss.
“Next year he’ll fight, but it’s not going to be against somebody with a knockout,” said Henry about Haney. “He’s going to fight somebody that only has two or three knockouts. His chin is suspect already.”
When Haney does return, he could choose to defend against his WBC mandatory Sandor Martin, who isn’t a big puncher. He has a 35% KO rate. It doesn’t get much longer than that with the top 15 contenders.
“I think his jaw is broken, but they’re not saying anything because why are they still in New York? Think about that,” said Henry about Haney.
“He’s probably in the hospital somewhere. They’re still in New York. What does that tell you? I don’t care. The dude is hurt,” said Henry when told that Haney was seen at a table with a birthday cake.
Bill posted a video saying that they’re still in New York, but he was short on details why. That was the strange part. He usually is more detail-oriented, but not in this case.
Bill Haney Under Fire
“I’m telling you psychologically, that book he gave to my son, he should read it page for page because he is one of the scummiest guys I’ve ever,” Henry said about Devin’s father, Bill Haney.
“He’s wicked, he’s dumb, he’s stupid. I don’t know why they hate him. Maybe because he’s tall, handsome, and rich. That doesn’t give him a reason to hate my son.
“He should have worried about his son,” said Henry, referring to Bill Haney’s need to worry about Devin. “He just worries about money and being behind the scenes on a camera. The man is wicked.
“That’s your responsibility do that as a father. Not as a trainer, as a father,” said Henry when asked if Bill should have thrown in the towel to save his son, Devin from taking such a bad beating from Ryan.
“The seventh round? That dude was out,” said Henry about Bill needing to stop the fight in the seventh when Devin was seriously hurt by numerous hard punches from Ryan. “Ryan is now the ‘Face of Boxing’ because he proved people wrong once again.”
