Headliners Cleared, Laureano Staropoli Over 4 Pounds Heavy

Published:

The
Professional Fighters League continues its 2024 season with

PFL 3, which features welterweight and featherweight
fights.

The 12-fight card was officially set after the weigh-ins took place
on Thursday. It is headlined by a three-round welterweight fight
between former Bellator welterweight world champion Andrey
Koreshkov and the undefeated Magomed
Umalatov. All fighters made weight, save for Laureano
Staropoli (175.25), who exceeded the 171-pound cap by 4.25
pounds. His fight against Murad
Ramazanov (170.75) will continue at a catchweight, and he has
been penalized one playoff point in addition to sustaining a fine
of his purse.

Koreshkov (27-4) is currently on a five-fight win streak, most
recently seeing him avenge a 2019 defeat to Lorenz
Larkin by winning a split decision. “Spartan” won Bellator gold
in 2015 by defeating Douglas
Lima by decision. The two would later rematch a year later,
with Lima winning via KO, and the Russian would lose the final
fight in the trilogy by submission in 2018. Koreshkov weighed 170.6
pounds for his PFL debut.

This marks the biggest fight in the career of Umalatov, who has an
impressive 14-0 record. “Prince” is 5-0 under the PFL banner and is
coming off wins over Nayib
Lopez, Dilano
Taylor and Jarrah
Al-Silawi. The 32-year-old fighter is an Eagles MMA prospect
and stepped on the scale at 170.3 pounds.

The PFL 3 main card begins at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on ESPN and
ESPN+. Prelims will stream exclusively on ESPN+ starting at 7 p.m.
ET/4 p.m. PT.
