Diana’s family joins Prince Harry at UK event amid royal absence

Published:

NEW DELHI: At the Invictus Games anniversary service held at St Paul’s Cathedral, Prince Harry received warm support from his maternal family members, despite the noticeable absence of other senior royals. The Duke of Sussex, unaccompanied by his wife Meghan who stayed in California with their children, was visibly pleased to be greeted by his late mother’s siblings, Earl Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes.
During the service, which marked a decade since the founding of the Invictus Games, the royal was seen engaging affectionately with his relatives. The event, however, coincided with King Charles hosting the season’s first garden party at Buckingham Palace, attended by various other royals but not Prince Harry.
The disparity in the royal family‘s engagements highlighted ongoing tensions, especially after it was reported that no formal meetings between Prince Harry and the King were scheduled during Harry’s brief visit. A spokesperson for Harry noted earlier that the King’s “full programme” prevented any potential meet-up.
Princess Diana‘s siblings have shown consistent support for Prince Harry, with Lady Jane previously invited to meet his son Archie before Prince William. Their presence at the anniversary service further cements their supportive stance towards Harry amidst his complex relations with the rest of the Windsor family.
