Dana White reflects on Jon Jones alleged drug tester threat: ‘He literally is always in trouble’

Jon Jones has been perhaps his own worst enemy throughout his career as a professional athlete.

The latest in the saga of Jones took place in an incident at his Albuquerque, New Mexico residence earlier this month. When visited by Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) drug-testing agency, Drug Free Sport International (DFSI), Jones allegedly threatened to kill the drug tester, according to them. Jones denied the allegations shortly after they were made.

UFC CEO, Dana White, has been along for the ride with the mixed martial arts (MMA) community during Jones’ troubles. So, he isn’t necessarily surprised anymore but is in awe of some of the major news network reporting that followed this recent issue.

“He literally is always in trouble,” White told Club Random. “Always has something going on, and got into trouble. NBC News put out a story that he was arrested and he was never arrested. It’s just like, they don’t even try anymore.

“A drug testing company — all of our fighters are drug tested,” he continued. “So, the testing agents can show up at your house or wherever you are and they have to know your whereabouts. Showed up, and she said that he threatened her. Then NBC News said that he was arrested and he was never arrested.”

Jones recently returned to training for the first time since he was sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered in late 2023. Before the injury, the current UFC Heavyweight champion was scheduled to defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 in November 2023. The pair are expected to be rebooked for their match up at some point in 2024. Meanwhile, interim titleholder, Tom Aspinall, hopes to get the winner by the time the dust settles in the land of giants.
