The Brit was found at the four-star Orada Tourist Apartments, near Albufeira Marina, Portugal, say local media.

He is thought to have been staying at the complex with a friend who hasn’t been seen since police discovered the body, reports Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã.

Cops were first told of the tragic death in the early hours of Monday morning after they received a phone call reporting the death.

Sources close to the ongoing investigation believe it was the missing roommate who made the call before fleeing.

He is still yet to be found.

Several cops, firefighters and ambulance workers were sent to the usually bustling apartment block when the body was found.

Portugal’s GNR police were the first on the scene but the investigation has now been handed over to the country’s Policia Judiciaria force.

The victim died in his room before emergency crews arrived.

Both police forces are yet to comment on the situation.

The well-placed source revealed: “The British man’s body was found on the floor by the toilet door in his apartment.

“There was a lot of vomit around him. Police suspect he had suffered some sort of health issue.”

The victim was reportedly on a “short break” to Portugal and only had a small suitcase on him.

The two men were scheduled to leave the Orada complex the morning of the tragic event.

Another source said: “There are no obvious signs of any violence in the apartment or anything pointing to the man’s death being the result of a crime.

“It looks like it’s related to a health issue.”

The Orada complex is a hotspot for tourists from across Europe and is made up of 220 apartments and has 24-hour staff at the resort.
